We inspire our clients and make their visions and goals into realities.
By the time I was 25 I had already made more money in real estate investing than I had ever made at a job, starting with a $700 down payment. But for some reason I believed I still needed a job.
A sociologist friend planted a seed when I was 25, did not have a job or any prospects. He said, “You don’t need a job. You can start a business.”
This seed took root in my mind, and it eventually occurred to me that I could pass the wise observation on to other people. I talked to so many people who wanted to be their own boss but who could not figure out how.
Over the years we have learned many formulas for ensuring new businesses succeed. I have read unfortunately 90% or more of new businesses and start-ups fail. However, we see the opposite with our clients. Our client’s new business formations achieve ~90% success.
Early in my law practice — I made a very insensitive comment to a client who came to me for help. That experience forever changed the way I approach practicing and especially how I interact and empathize with my clients.
A woman who was going through a divorce called. I don’t currently practice family law, but earlier in my career I would take on a variety of cases. This client said she was always supported by her husband and was upset the court did not awarded her more temporary support. She needed more money, she said. My first thought was “Why don’t you get a job if you need money?” When I shared this thought she became very upset.
I realized quickly what I said should have been thought out differently . I should have asked, “Can you think of any possible sources of income to tide you over?” And maybe the possibility of a job would have come up, but maybe not. Maybe she was an artist with a houseful of amazing sculptures. Maybe she had been a freelance coder. I never found out, because I worded my question wrong.
This experience had such an impact on me that it was then that I began to think that I not only wanted to help women in need feel empowered and help them but that I wanted to feel that way. I wanted to start my own practice and be able to work with clients on a much more personal basis. Help them realize their dreams while fulfilling mine at the same time.
